Just as the needs of children are different than those of adults, young animals need different care than their older counterparts. Because of their age and size, they are much more susceptible to most ailments. These challenges, which in older animals can cause discomfort, can actually cause death in the young animal.

At Mueller Pet Medical Center, we suggest that you bring your new puppies and kittens in to see us as soon as you adopt them. During this initial examination we can check for any congenital birth defects, or any other physical abnormalities, assess any early behavioral issues, and establish a schedule for appropriate vaccinations and age related health needs. Intestinal Parasites are especially harmful to younger pets and can be present at birth, so they should be addressed as soon as possible.
